Escrow Register

Fiduciary accounts held by a civil law notary spell out security for all stakeholders in the administration of legal transactions. They imply proper handling, accurate settlement and punctual performance and have proven their practical merits over decades.

To preserve these qualities, the Austrian body of civil law notaries have set up a special, computerised register. This Escrow Register records all escrows accepted by civil law notaries. Entry in the register guarantees special insurance cover. Trustors may request information about the recording of their account and existing insurance protection. The Register helps the Chamber of Civil Law Notaries to monitor whether the strict requirements applying to notarial trusteeships are being met.
