31st Conference of European Civil-Law Notaries , Salzburg, 25-26 April 2019

Ladies and gentlemen,

Dear friends of the Conference of European Civil-Law Notaries,

Austria’s notaries invite you to attend the 31st Conference of European Civil-Law Notaries in Salzburg from 25-26 April 2019. The general theme of this year’s conference on 26 April is:

Europe as a Unifying Principle – Ambition & Realisation

The forthcoming elections to the European Parliament in May and the formation of the new European Commission in autumn will mark a turning point for the European institutions. This is a time to reflect about what will happen to the European project.

Brexit, the refugee crisis and Eurosceptics often dominate the debate in the media. Even pro-European analysists have predicted a change of the constitutional framework. The referendum in the United Kingdom and elections in the United States have fundamentally changed Europe’s geopolitical position.

Our meeting will analyse the possible threats of European disintegration, the root causes of the political transformations of recent years and the strengths of the EU.

Progressing digitalisation in company law, the ever closer interconnection of registers, as well as the forthcoming implementation of the European company law package are yet another focus of our programme.

What positive contributions can notaries make in the face of these transformations? The general theme of the meeting in 2019 is Europe as a unifying principle, its ambitious and how it is being realised.

We expect high-ranking speakers from the European Commission, the European Parliament and eminent international and national experts from legal and corporate practice as well as academia.

Austria’s notaries are looking forward to your attendance!

Yours sincerely,

Hon.-Prof. Univ.-Doz. DDr. Ludwig Bittner
Präsident der Österreichischen Notariatskammer
